What clips are needed to install Bel Air dash trim on 1955–1957 models?
Answer:
The original Bel Air dash trim is secured using Phillips sheet metal screws at the outer corners. The remaining sections are held in place by the instrument cluster, clock, wiper/headlight controls, lighter, ignition switch and radio bezel.
Only the 1957 “210” dashboard trim requires a small wire clip.
How difficult is it to install a 700R transmission, and what RPM improvement can I expect?
Answer:
Installing a 700R transmission is similar to installing a TH350. The transmission mount is simply moved slightly rearward to accommodate the longer case.
- Approximately 700 RPM reduction in fourth gear compared with a TH350 or TH400.
- An additional reduction of about 200 RPM when using the lock-up converter.
