With the trend, especially with convertibles, torestore them and outfit them with every option available, it was nice to see this 50's style mild custom ‘55 at the 1987 All Chevy Weekend in Augusta, Maine.

Nominations for the next year’s executive were made at the September meeting with elections being held at the November meeting. Jeff was reelected president and the constitution was amended to remove the restriction on length of time anyone can serve on the executive. In the September-October-November newsletter, Jeff’s president’s message indicated that, although everyone seems to enjoy reading the newsletter, there is very little being submitted by club members. Jeff warned that the newsletter cannot continue a monthly basis without more cooperation from members. Eventually our newsletter has become quarterly. Requests for more input from members for the newsletter has been a common topic throughout the existence of our club.

In keeping with our enjoyment of a good party, we held a dance in late November. Prices were $10.00 per couple for a D.J. A gold star to Mo (Maureen Mulcahy ) for putting a dance together in 2006 with a live band for $15.00 per couple!!

The year ended with a December newsletter (Jeff’s pep talk must have worked) and the loss of our last Corvette. The club, at one point boasted four Corvettes with each of the three years being represented! Late in the year, the Province announced that personalized plates would be soon available.

The new year started with a January newsletter and a feature on a member’s classic. An announcement was made that our fifth Classic Chevy weekend would return to the Glengarry for a third year. Being somewhat of a milestone, we hoped #5 would be special. To raise money, we raffled off a 1/10 scale R/C 57 Chev. This went so well that we did a second R/C raffle. This time it was a 55.

An anniversary dinner and dance was held at the Glengarry on February 27. Again, $10.00 got a couple into the dance with music supplied by a D.J. We also had a set of wide whitewall tires donated which we decided would be raffled off between the first 35 to register for the next Classic Chevy weekend. A contest to design a logo for the event was also held. A second order for the melton and leather jackets was made.

Several club members participated in the I.S.C.A. shows in Halifax and Moncton. Numerous members have participated in these I.S.C.A. shows or other similar indoor shows over the years, but their popularity has declined. On the other hand, the outdoor show and shines seem to be as popular as ever.

The stream of information that allowed for publication of newsletters for each of the first three months of 1988 ended with a combined April-May issue. Interest in the club remained strong with five more members joining in May, bringing our total at that time to 115. With 13 of those members in attendance, we won the club participation trophy at the Golden Age Show & Shine this year.

The Classic Chevy weekend attracted 45 classics which was up slightly. The weather was beautiful and members were kept busy with casino night, a poker run, a variety of games, a dance along with the actual showing of the cars. We were unable to use the Armory field this year (surprise!!!), so with the number of classics on had, the Glengarry lot was more than adequate. Unfortunately, we went $200-300.00 over budget.
